It has been some time since my last journal entry. There was plenty of time to write during the 19 uneventful days that took us to traverse the 20 light years between Techtron and Earth. However, strong feelings of depression have kept me from doing so.
Right. That brings me to today. We arrived on planet Earth yesterday and delivered the acceletron cargo.
Today, commander Sarah went out to look over several potential navigators to take Jake's place (big sigh),
I, on the other hand, have been ordered to assist one of the local keepers conduct a routine visit with someone called Scarlett S.
Scarlett is a member of the 26th generation originating from one historical embryo, which was implanted on planet Earth about 500 years ago.
Each time an embryo is introduced, the keepers continue to maintain a close watch over each generation that follows. The keepers have to guide, facilitate, and sometimes cajole these offspring in order to make the right things happen. This is how the historical significance of the embryo's bloodline is able to endure the passing of time for countless generations.
Our mission is to present Scarlett with only three possible career choices. But being a humble historian, I don't really know how this keeper mission stuff works.
All I know is that Scarlett is at the right age to choose her professional career. However, it is essential that the career chosen by Scarlett is one of the three being presented by the keeper. Otherwise, Scarlett's chosen destiny will never be fulfilled and the historical significance of her bloodline will be lost.
